There are moments in business that stop you in your tracks and remind you why you do what you do. Being featured in New York Bride Magazine is one of those moments for Balazs Events.

To be recognized in a publication that celebrates style, creativity, and memorable wedding inspiration is an honor, and it reflects the heart of what we do: crafting celebrations that feel personal, intentional, beautifully curated, and effortlessly executed.

In the New York Bride Magazine Fall Winter issue, Maggy and Kurt’s Valentine’s weekend wedding was highlighted as a sophisticated and romantic celebration that stepped away from traditional Valentine’s red and pink and embraced something richer, moodier, and more elevated. Their palette featured deep blues, reds, purples, and soft pinks with warm gold accents woven throughout the design. Every detail was carefully curated to create an atmosphere that felt intimate, refined, and true to their love story.

A Valentine’s Wedding Weekend With a Distinctive Color Story

Because the celebration took place on Valentine’s Day weekend, the couple had the perfect opportunity to create a romantic experience without leaning into the expected. Instead of a predictable palette, Maggy and Kurt chose a bold, layered color story filled with drama and depth.

The result was a wedding that felt romantic and timeless while still being full of personality. It was a true example of how thoughtful color decisions can elevate an entire celebration from beautiful to unforgettable.

Style That Felt Classic, Intentional, and Elevated

Maggy was the embodiment of classic elegance in her bridal gown from Gown Boutique of Charleston. The timeless silhouette and delicate details perfectly complemented the romantic ambiance of the day. Her bridesmaids wore rich deep red dresses, while the junior bridesmaids wore a soft purple pink that tied seamlessly into the overall design.

Kurt and his groomsmen wore classic black suits accented with deep red pocket squares and vibrant boutonnieres that added the perfect pop of color and texture. It was polished, traditional, and still visually impactful.

A Guest Experience Designed With Warmth and Thoughtfulness

At Balazs Events, guest experience is always at the center of our planning process. This wedding was the perfect example of how meaningful hospitality creates a celebration that feels as good as it looks.

Guests were welcomed with an inviting pre ceremony spread of cheese, fruit, and crudités, along with a cozy coffee and hot cocoa bar to keep everyone warm in the winter weather.

The beverage experience continued that same thoughtful energy with a vintage style Tap Truck serving beer on tap, paired with Pour Advice Bartending providing signature drinks including an Old Fashioned, two custom mocktails, and the crowd favorite mango margarita.

Florals That Created an Immersive Atmosphere

The florals were nothing short of breathtaking. With a mix of low table arrangements and towering centerpieces, the room felt lush, layered, and elevated from every angle.

A hedge wall adorned with floral clusters and a glowing neon sign became a striking statement piece, offering guests a memorable photo backdrop. Even the cocktail hour details were intentional, with delicate bud vases placed on each cocktail table to carry the floral experience throughout the entire space.

A Cake Moment Worthy of the Spotlight

Their cake was a true work of art, featuring ombré tiers transitioning through shades of blue, purple, and white. It was displayed on a gold cake stand provided by planner Parris Balazs and paired with a patterned blue floral linen from BBJ La Tavola.

Personalized crystal champagne flutes made the cake cutting and toast feel even more elevated, creating a moment that was both stylish and sentimental.

Personal Details That Made the Day Meaningful

One of our favorite details from this wedding was the invitation suite, which featured custom artwork of the venue, Heron Hill, hand drawn by a Charleston artist. That illustration gave guests a glimpse of the venue’s charm before they arrived and set the tone for the celebration from the very first impression.

These are the kinds of details that take a wedding from pretty to personal.
