Every wedding begins with a vision. Sometimes that vision is fully formed, and other times it is little more than a feeling. No matter where the journey begins, my role is to transform those ideas into an intentional, meaningful celebration that reflects each couple's unique story.
As the founder and creative director of Balazs Events, I have dedicated my career to helping couples navigate one of the most significant seasons of their lives with confidence, clarity, and expert guidance. Over the years, I have had the privilege of planning and producing more than 150 weddings and events throughout South Carolina and beyond, each one unique, each one deeply personal.
Recently, I was honored to be featured by CanvasRebel, where I had the opportunity to share my journey into the wedding industry, the lessons I have learned along the way, and the philosophy that continues to shape every celebration we produce at Balazs Events. While the interview touched on many important moments, I wanted to take the opportunity to share a more complete look at the story behind Balazs Events and the values that guide my work.
An Unconventional Beginning
My path into the events industry was anything but traditional.
Before becoming a wedding planner, I built my career in marketing, sales, operations, and client service. Those experiences taught me how to communicate effectively, solve complex problems, manage logistics, lead teams, and create exceptional client experiences. Looking back, I realize those skills became the foundation of the planner I am today.
In December of 2018, I launched Eventfully Chic by Parris and planned my first wedding the following year. As the business grew, so did my passion for creating celebrations that combined thoughtful design with meticulous planning. Over time, that vision evolved into Balazs Events, a boutique planning, design, and production company dedicated to providing an elevated, highly personalized planning experience.
Today, Balazs Events specializes in full service wedding planning, event design, and production for couples who value thoughtful details, intentional experiences, and a trusted professional to guide them through every stage of the planning process.
Beautiful Weddings Begin Long Before the Wedding Day

When people think about wedding planning, they often picture flowers, linens, candlelight, and beautiful tablescapes.
While those elements certainly play an important role, they represent only a small part of what goes into creating a successful event.
Every wedding is the result of hundreds of thoughtful decisions made long before guests arrive. Budgets are developed. Vendor teams are carefully assembled. Floor plans are refined. Transportation schedules are coordinated. Timelines are built. Backup plans are prepared. Every detail is considered long before the first guest takes a seat.
That is where I thrive.
I genuinely enjoy the logistics just as much as the creative process. I love solving problems before they become problems, anticipating challenges before they arise, and creating systems that allow the entire wedding day to unfold effortlessly.
The most successful weddings are not the result of luck. They are the result of thoughtful planning, careful preparation, and an experienced team working together behind the scenes.
Finding the Crossroads of Best Quality and Best Value

One philosophy has guided every decision I've made since the beginning of my business.
I help my clients find the crossroads of best quality and best value.
I believe extraordinary weddings are not defined by how much money is spent. They are defined by thoughtful decisions, strategic investments, and prioritizing the elements that matter most to each couple.
My responsibility is not to encourage clients to spend more. It is to help them spend wisely.
That means helping couples establish realistic budgets, recommending trusted professionals, identifying where their investment will have the greatest impact, and creating an experience that feels authentic to who they are.
Every recommendation I make is centered on maximizing value while delivering an exceptional experience for both my clients and their guests.
A Wedding Day That Changed My Perspective Forever
After planning more than 150 weddings and events, there is one experience that forever changed the way I approach contingency planning.
Following the rehearsal dinner, the officiant for one of my couples unexpectedly passed away. He was not only their officiant, but also a close friend.
The following morning, I immediately began contacting every member of the vendor team to determine what could still be postponed or canceled. By that point, however, much of the celebration was already in motion. The florist had completed the arrangements. The caterer was preparing the meal. The rental company had installed the tent. The cake was already on its way.
Ultimately, the couple made the incredibly difficult decision to gather with family and friends as planned, not to exchange vows, but to celebrate the life of someone they loved.
As I prepared to leave for the venue, one question continued to run through my mind.
What if they changed their minds?
What if, despite everything that had happened, they decided they still wanted to be married?
Wanting to be prepared for every possibility, I became an ordained minister before leaving for the venue.
Fortunately, I never needed to serve in that capacity. Even so, the experience profoundly shaped the way I think about my role as a planner.
Contingency planning extends far beyond preparing for rain or transportation delays. Sometimes it means preparing for circumstances no one could ever anticipate.
Wedding planning is ultimately about caring for people. The logistics matter, but people always come first.
Choosing a Different Definition of Success for Balazs Events
One of the most significant decisions of my career was redefining what success looked like.
Like many entrepreneurs, I initially believed growth meant serving more clients each year.
Over time, I realized growth could also mean serving fewer clients with greater intention.
That realization became the foundation for Balazs Events.
Rather than building the largest planning company possible, I chose to build one focused on exceptional service, meaningful relationships, and an elevated planning experience. By intentionally limiting the number of weddings I accept each year, I am able to devote more time, creativity, and personal attention to every client.
It was one of the most important business decisions I have ever made, and one that continues to shape the experience I provide today.
Relationships Come Before Referrals

One of the questions I am asked most often is how couples find Balazs Events.
The answer is remarkably simple.
Referrals.
While social media and online searches certainly introduce new couples to Balazs Events, the majority of my inquiries come from former clients and fellow wedding professionals who trust me enough to recommend my services.
That trust has been earned through years of clear communication, professionalism, preparation, honesty, and consistency.
It has also been built through strong relationships with photographers, venues, florists, caterers, entertainment professionals, rental companies, and countless others who work together to create extraordinary celebrations.
Those relationships remain one of the accomplishments I value most because they represent something no award can measure.
Trust.
An Incredible Journey
Throughout my career, I have been honored to receive recognition including Wedding MBA Elite Certified Wedding Planner and Designer, The Knot Best of Weddings, The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame, WeddingWire Couples' Choice Awards, USA 40 Under 40 Honoree, Quality Business Awards, CommunityVotes Best Wedding Planner, ThreeBestRated Top 3 Wedding Planners, and has been featured in New York Bride Magazine, The Knot, Brides & Weddings, Bespoke Bride, and other national wedding publications.
While I am deeply grateful for every award and publication, they are not what motivate me.
The greatest privilege of this profession is being invited into one of the most meaningful chapters of someone's life.
Every wedding represents a unique story, a family, and a moment that can never be recreated.
That responsibility is one I never take lightly.
